Guillermo Tellez out of Square 1682 and Red Owl

It's not clear if the chef quit or was pushed,

The Kimpton Hotels in Philly - Square 1682 at the Palomar and Red Owl Tavern at the Monaco - are looking for a new executive chef as Guillermo Tellez left last week.

The circumstances are not known. A rep for the hotel confirmed that Tellez was no longer in its employ - though his bio was included on its website Monday night.

Tellez texted me to say that "things are great," adding that he and his family were traveling and that he was "taking a sabbatical."

Tellez - known for his use of local ingredients and his charcuterie - worked for Charlie Trotter before relocating to Philadelphia in 2007 to join Starr Restaurant Organization as chef at Striped Bass. He joined Kimpton four years ago after a spell as chef/co-owner of Northbrook MarketPlace in Chester County.
