Spread Bagelry expects to open in University City in June

When restaurateurs expand, they often opt for a different look each time.

Sometimes the differences between the first and second locations are subtle - the Pizzeria Vetri shops in Logan Square and Rittenhouse,  are obvious siblings, with the marble and posters of Italy. Sometimes the differences are dramatic.

Such as the new Spread Bagelry, coming to 36th and Chestnut Streets, perhaps in June.

Where the original location at 262 S. 20th St. is a snug, old-fashioned space, the new one boats an open, almost slick design by Richard Stokes.

Owner Larry Rosenblum says constuction is about to start.
