Growlers opening Friday

Need a piano?

Growlers opening Friday

Frequently, folks opening new restaurants find items on the premises that they can't use.

At Growlers at Eighth and Fitzwater Streets, opening Friday, Oct. 5, owners Jay Willard and Jason Evenchik found a 1968 Baldwin piano. They're not offering live music, so it has to go. see the image gallery for a look at the instrument; if you know of a good home, call 267-519-3242.

Willard, former Starr food and beverage manager (The Dandelion, Frankford Hall, etc.), is joining Time/Bar/Vintage owner Evenchik in the beer-centric neighborhood pub, which replaces Vesuvio.

They've brightened up the joint, keeping the century-old architectural details but opening up one wall in the dining room and adding windows (and outdoor dining) to the Fitzwater Street side.

Chef Jerry Donahue, a BBQ specialist formerly at Conshohocken's Spamps and the Blue Bell Country Club, is doing an easy-on-the budget menu.
