Geno's Steaks says it donated $15,527 from a promotion Tuesday during which the South Philly shop sold cheesesteaks for 50 cents. They usually sell for $9.50.

The line formed early and deep, and extended four blocks.

Nine hundred steaks were sold, the shop says.

Geno Vento, marking his family's shop's 47th anniversary, is giving the money to the Philly-based American Association for Cancer Research -  $527 from the public, and $15,000 from the shop.

7th anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 10 by selling cheesesteaks from noon to 2 p.m.
