Gastropub on the way for the former Roosevelt's Pub
Avram Hornik will run it.
If you're looking for a line on one of the city's hot restaurant neighborhoods, check the stretch of Walnut Street as it leads west out of Center City.
Starting at 20th Street, there's Tria Taproom, the Irish Pub, The Cafe, and The Bards, Revolution Taco, plus the nationally known Vernick.
This summer, at 2121 Walnut St., Andrew Kochan is opening TALK, a spin-off of Marigold Kitchen. In the next block is one of the hit newcomers of 2017 - the Italian cafe/BYOB Res Ipsa (2218 Walnut St.). At 2401 Walnut St. is 24 Wood-Fired Fare, Jose Garces' new Italian concept. And just on the other side of the Walnut Street Bridge, on the ground floor of the under-construction FMC Tower at Cira Centre South (2929 Walnut St.), the principals behind NYC's Rebelle are building a restaurant for a summer debut.

Restaurateur Avram Hornik of Four Corners Management (Morgan's Pier, William Street Common, The Dolphin, Parks on Tap) has signed up for the space that used to be Roosevelt's Pub at 23rd and Walnut. He says it will be a "chef-driven gastropub" this fall. The chef who will be driving is not yet known; neither is the name.
Roosevelt's, which closed in 2014 after a rebranding as R Bar, was a longtime Center City watering hole known for its happy hour.
