Garces has a date for his restaurant return to Atlantic City at Tropicana

He'll do seafood, Japanese, and a bar with Olón, Okatshe, and Bar Olón. And there will be a candy store, too.

March 4 will mark the return of Jose Garces to Atlantic City - 2½ years after the shutdown of Revel Casino idled him, other restaurateurs, and 3,000 workers.

Garces has three restaurants opening at the Tropicana, coinciding with Atlantic City Restaurant Week, as the Trop disclosed today.

Bar Olón is a 60-seat double-sided bar and lounge between the two restaurants, with 16 draft beer selections; 35 beers by the bottle; 20 wines by the glass; 75-plus wines by the bottle, and eight specialty cocktails, as wll as a light food menu. Trop says the walk-around bar will have a "modernized beach vibe" and will have a stage for live entertainment.

Garces has the services of Maria Schmidt, a nine-year Garces vet from Amada, Distrito, Tinto, and 24, as chef de cuisine. Patrick Sterr, also a longtime Garces manager, is overseeing as executive director of fine dining.
