Food Network contestant fights kidney disease

Philly baker Karl Isaiah, who trades as Cake Boulangerie, will compete on Food Network's Sweet Genius, the four-round cooking competition, on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 10 p.m.

Isaiah, who has kidney disease, works to have a portion of his Cake Boulangerie orders donated to the National Kidney Foundation.

There will be an invitation-only viewing party at Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St.), where he and pastry chef Jess Nolen will collaborate on a signature cheesecake with a complementing beer list and appetizers. You can register for the party here or by emailing rsvp@skaibluemedia.com.
