Meze is the tentative name for the restaurant under construction across from L’Oca at 2028 Fairmount Ave. in Fairmount, at the dead-end with Corinthian Street.

Coowner David Orphanides, a zoning attorney, says he and partner Savvas Novrosidis (Fairmount Pizza) intend it as a “comfortable, clean, fresh” place that will “focus on the human experience.” Orphanides says food from chef Tim Bellew (MANNA catering, plus Fire in Cherry Hill) will include as much organic as possible.

They hope to open after Labor Day.

Great. But when is Jack's Firehouse going to get a new owner. The location and space are perfect. Too bad the food and service are both disgusting.

The Houston's who now own Jack's are good people who live in and do a lot for the Neighborhhod. Things are getting better. Jack McDavid was a jerk. I am glad he is out of there. The owners of Meze need to play down the Fairmount Pizza thing as that will not have anyone having Meze on top of mind when thinking of somewhere to go.
