Diner en Blanc to return for 2017

About 5,000 attendees enjoy the fifth Diner en Blanc on the Art Museum steps and surrounding area on Thursday Aug. 18, 2016.

The wait list has opened for the sixth edition of Diner en Blanc, the Parisian-style pop-up picnic that for one evening transforms a secret location into a sea of partiers dressed in white.

Not only is the location being held close to the vest, as is custom. The date, so far, is also a secret. In previous years, it has been held on the third Thursday in August.

Cohosts Natanya DiBona and Kayli Moran will throw a free preview party Tuesday, June 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Headhouse Square Shambles, on Second Street near Lombard. The party will feature voting in the annual table-decorating contest (theme is Historic Philadelphia: Events That Shaped Our City), as well as details for getting into the registration lottery - a process only slightly more complicated than vertex operator algebras.

You can get onto the waitlist here. The wait list does not guarantee a spot; rather, it ensures that those signed up to the wait list will be notified when Phase 3 goes on sale in early summer through a lottery system. Last year’s registered members will automatically receive notice of registration going on sale in Phase 1.

Registration for June 6's preview party is required via bit.ly/debphl17preview.

Past locations in Philadelphia were Logan Circle (2012), JFK Bridge (2013), Avenue of the Arts (2014), the Navy Yard (2015) and outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art (2016).
