Dawn Stensland to leave Fox29

POSTED: Wednesday, October 21, 2009, 4:49 PM

Dawn Stensland will end her eight-year run at Fox29 by the end of the year when her contract expires, a station spokeswoman said today.

Stensland's last day has not been determined.

In a Twitter message, she tweeted: "Fox is not renewing my contract. I wanted you to hear that directly from me. Thank you for all your love and support over the years."

Kerri-Lee Halkett will take the femme seat on the 10 p.m. show with Thomas Drayton.

Stensland's nearly 20 years in news includes two years as co-host of CBS News Saturday Morning, and four years at KYW (Channel 3).

She moved here in 1997 to join her then-fiance, Larry Mendte, whom she had met in Chicago. The couple married in 2000.

The station wouldn't provide further detail on the impending departure.

Now only if FOX 29 were to bring back Jill Chernekoff,Don Tollefson and Rich Noonan, wouldn't that be "AWESOME".

Bringing Mike Jerrick back should tell you the direction Fox News is going in this town. Morning has become idiot time and it's spreading throughout the day. Won't be watching any Fox News now.

Dawn, You are a fine lady and a class act. Dump the fools around you and you'll be fine.

Its getting rough out there. Hopefully Dawn will be hired by one of the other area stations. Beautiful and very professional. Good Luck.

Dawn is an amazing talent, and went through this hard year with her head held high doing her job. She is an amazingly classy, strong, loving woman, and Philly loves her... Fox is crazy to let her go.

Good luck, Dawn, in the future. After Rob was let go, I swore I wouldn't watch, but sometimes I snuck a peek at breaking news. When I saw what they were doing with Kerri-Lee on your 10 pm show, it was too embarrassing to watch what management was doing placing her front & center so I couldn't watch anymore. You held your head up though, good for you.

I am crushed. She is the best! Beautiful, sexy, intelligent. TV news is brutal. Kerri Lee is a great body with no brains. Fox will lose a devoted viewer. Please get another job in Philadelphia Dawn! You so outclass your husband.

Couldn't stand Dawn, and Kerri-Lee is way hotter.

The only person that would be a worse choice than Kerri Lee would be Jennaphyr. OK, maybe Sue Serio.
