Fox29 has not renewed the contract of weekend meteorologist David Aldrich, and his last day, after four years, will be Oct. 2, a station rep confirmed.

Aldrich made some impressive weather calls over last winter.

6ABC alumna SallyAnn Mosey will fill in for rest of October.

Aldrich's station bio IDs him as a native of Wilmington, like another Fox29 exile, Rob Guarino.

Aldrich attended the University of Delaware before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his b.a. in radio, television and motion pictures in 1992. He then attended North Carolina State University where he received his b.s. in meteorology in 1999.

Once a member of the Screen Actors' Guild, the bio says, Aldrich guest-starred on an episode of "Matlock," appeared in the movie "Dead Poets' Society" as a featured extra, and starred in a Veterans' Life Insurance commercial with Roger Staubach.

I'm still trying to figure out why they fired Bill Vargus. He was excellent!

Another HUGE MISTAKE (like re-hiring Bolaris) once again...loosing a lot of respect for this station. This is one of the most knowledgeable mets in the region this day. Not sure what Fox29 is thinking.

I still miss Bill Vargus, he alone was better than the entire team they have now. Dave Aldrich kind of grew on me. I thought that he did a good job.

I agree this is a HUGE MISTAKE! David Aldrich was sharp, talented, on top of his game, and in my opinion, the best. This is very disappointing and your station has lost my respect for this decision.

Fox seems intent on replacing talent with "pretty faces." Making the channel 17 ten oclock news look better and better.

I've been a faithful Fox 29 news viewer but all these staff changes (DonT, BillyV, RobG, JaimeS, DaveH, ClaytonM) have my head spinning.and yet they keep SteveK, JenaphrF and brought back Mike Jerrick who is a simpleton. If they ever let Sue Serio go I'm done for sure.

Fox 29 is all about the "glitz and glamour" now. All solid citizens like DaveH, ClaytonM, BillyV, Aldrich, Gaurino and Jamie Shupak are being sent packing which is wrong. Bolaris coming back is indicative of where management's head's at. If they let Sue Serio go, I am done with Fox 29...forever!

It is a very sad day for Phila. and surrounding area. We always found him to be the most accurate, and found he gave us the best weather facts and history. Also, he had a great way of connecting the weather to the current events that was happening in the area, like what the weather would be like during a Philly or Eagle's game. He will be missed. It definitely is the Fox's lose.

David really was involved ( blogs) and accurate. I find it ironic John Bolaris doesn't blog on the website. I have to say, I will think twice about watching 29 once he is gone

Yet another error in judgment by Fox29. David was not only accurate as well as had great presence, but stayed involved with viewers off the air through online blogs as well. A change such as this does not benefit the station or its viewers and could only have a negative impact. I doubt this is about money or contract negotiations because Davis is a homegrown talent and I'm sure it wouldn't be his choice to leave the station. In this viewer's opinion, poor decisions like this from a news station just brings in to question their ability to provide accurate up to date news in an intelligent and fact based manner.

May I tell you why Channel 6 is top in the ratings, because they keep the same on air staff for years. They become family, someone who want night after night in your living room....Maybe a lesson Fox 29 needs to learn. David was not only a very accurate weather forecaster but he was a local boy who grew up here in the Delaware Valley....Bolaris is just hot air, doesn't know anything about weather, David is a true Meteorlogist....its a crying shame, back to channel 6 I go!!!!!!
