Comcast SportsNet is promising a big announcement on Tuesday's edition of its Daily News Live show.

Sources describe this scenario:

DNL -- a programming staple since October 1997 -- will be shaved from 90 minutes to 60 minutes, so it will run from 5 to 6 p.m.

Moving up a half-hour, to 6 p.m., will be SportsNite.

Following at 6:30 will be pregame shows for that night's games.

My sources did not say when the change is effective (most likely in time for Flyers season), or what will be shown on the nights when there are no games.

No problem at all with that change as they can cover everything they need to cover on DNL in an hour and then having that half hour of a game preview will be great as well.

Why is it "Daily News Live" when it only encompasses sports and no local news??

bad move. i like to watch the local news and then watch sportsnet. i think if sportsnet tries to compete with the local news they will lose. the average sports fan wants to see whats going on locally and in the world before they watch sportsnet. they will lose viewers at the 6pm spot...........bad bad move.

What is Mike Kern going to do now that DNL is cutting back? He always relied on that $5.00 per minute on-air time for food.
