Mike Spampinato, whose steak-sushi house Spamps is just off the Fayette Street bridge in Conshohocken, is going next door into the former Viggiano's restaurant with a red-gravy Italian concept called Spampinato's Italian Restaurant.

Simple renovation will include new carpeting and paint, and he hopes to open between Aug. 10 and 17.

Entrees: $15 to $25.

While Viggiano's was a BYOB, Spampinato's will share Spamps' liquor license.

My wife and I ate there last night and the food was terrible. Worst wedding soup we ever had. All the sauces were too salty, the espresso was burnt and the dessert was WAY overpriced. $9 for an inch thick slice of cake? Not in Conshy. When this was Viggianos, it was really good, but I wouldn't feed my dog the food from this place now.
