'Comfortable cocktail bar' for Rittenhouse

Realtor Anne Frey, who has lived in the Rittenhouse Square area for 35 years, says she and neighbors were bemoaning the dearth of comfortable bars in the neighborhood.

Someone said, "Why don't you open a bar?"

And so she is. In her words, a "comfortable cocktail bar."

She is taking over 2006 Chestnut St. with a spot she's calling 1 Tippling Place (or more properly 1 Tippling Pl.). It was briefly Jolly's Dueling Piano Bar.

She's envisioning a comfortable, living room feel, no airs, and appeal to clientele of a certain age.

Target is late April or early May.

This is a really bad spot.
    Doomed.
I'm sure we will be reading about it closing in about a few months.
