Square Pie to take over for Cochon

Gene and Amy Giuffi do a shuffle in Queen Village.

Pizza trumps pig.

After nearly eight years, Gene and Amy Giuffi have closed their romantic, porcine-centric French BYOB, Cochon, at Passyunk Avenue and Catharine Street in Queen Village. And in a brilliant move, they're moving their hot but tiny pizzeria, Square Pie, from across the street into the Cochon space.

Square Pie will remain open at Sixth and Catharine Streets until the Cochon space is redone in late August or early September, said Amy Giuffi. She said the Square Pie lease was winding down.

Cochon will need only minimal work - opening of the kitchen and a new color palette. In its new incarnation, Square Pie will be more family friendly, Amy Giuffi said.

The Giuffis are delighted that their staff will continue to have jobs.
