Co-founder of Far From Home truck dies

Larry Comroe, who with partner Wade Smith ran the business until July, was 48.

From their opening in February, Larry Comroe and Wade Smith had a hit with their Far From Home food truck, which they had founded in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

It was a comfort-food bonanza, with great burgers and even better empanadas.

In July, they confounded customers with word that they were shutting down suddenly, saying that they would be consulting and writing a book. Their last day at LOVE Park was July 21.

Now comes sad news via @FarFromHomeCafe's Twitter account that Comroe, 48, died Sept. 1.

His funeral will be Wednesday, as the death notice from today's Inquirer elaborates.

Here is a 2007 piece from New York Mag about his beating cancer and whipping himself into shape.
