Closings: Darling's Cafe, Cantina Avenida, etc.

Restaurants might be opening left and right, but doors are locking on a few places, too.

Restaurants might be opening left and right, but doors are locking on a few places, too:

Mount Airy's Avenida went to a less-expensive cantina style - as Cantina Avenida - earlier this year. But that didn't help, as it's closed.

Darling's Cafe, the go-to for Moore College students and budget-conscious Parkway tourists, is shut at 21st and Spring Streets. People are being referred to the Darling's Diner at the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties.

DiVello's Deli in Cherry Hill has closed and is for sale.

Charlie Brown's in Maple Shade has been 86ed.

El Capitan, a Mexican spot that took over the former Koo Zee Doo at 614 N. Second St. in Northern Liberties, is shut down.

A fun fact, re: a recent closing: Kevin Sbraga bought much of the equipment from the shuttered The Mildred in South Philadelphia. It's destined to be used in Sbraga's new Juniper Commons, opening mid-December.
