The last vestige of the anchor team of Larry Mendte and Alycia Lane is gone, as of five minutes ago.

Chris May, who was shifted into the main male anchor seat at CBS3 after Mendte's firing in June, was handed the 6 and 11 p.m. job.

May arrived here from Boston in October 2007 to share a weekend shift. He quickly moved to coanchor the weekday 4 p.m. news after Marc Howard retired. When news of the Mendte spy scandal broke, May was thrust into the main role.

May's coanchor, Susan Barnett, got her job officially in April, more than four months after the firing of predecessor Alycia Lane.

Mendte is due to be sentenced Nov. 24 for hacking into Lane's e-mail.
