Chops opens on Comcast Center's plaza
Chops is starting outside with a weekday bar-restaurant serving from 11:30 a.m. till 7 p.m. or so.
Sign of spring: The restaurant on the plaza outside of the Comcast Center at 17th Street and JFK Boulevard is open.
This year, there's a difference: It's not Table 31, which closed last September after five-plus years.
The new occupant is Chops, which is starting outside with a weekday bar-restaurant serving from 11:30 a.m. till 7 p.m. or so.
Chops' restaurant on the ground floor of the Comcast Center is being renovated with a target opening in July.
Chops owner Alex Plotkin previously had two Chops-es, in Bala Cynwyd and on Walnut Street in Washington Square. Both of those closed last year.
The outdoor menu at the Comcast Center is fairly simple: sandwiches, salads, and a few entrees (everything is sub-$20 except for a strip steak at $28), plus four beers on draft, five in bottles, wines by the glass and cocktails.
