Chinese and karaoke in Old City

Chinatown's Xi'an Sizzling Woks opens Xi'an Cuisine & Bar at 120 Chestnut St.

Chinese and karaoke in Old City

The folks from the hit Chinatown BYOB Xi'an Sizzling Woks have opened a second spot, taking over a building at 120 Chestnut St,., next to Buffalo Billiards and across from Han Dynasty.

Xi'an Cuisine & Bar - in soft-opening mode through Sept. 1 - has a lot going on with its three floors, all served by an elevator just inside.

Ground floor is a bar, stocked with a few wines, a few bottled beers and the makings of cocktails. You can eat at the bar or at high-tops.

Second floor is the dining room - a sharp-looking, contemporary room with subway tiles on one wall and mirrors opposite.

Third floor is where the magic happens: three karaoke rooms. Two can accommodate nearly two dozen revelers, while the third is about half the size. Rental is about $70 an hour.

For now, Xi'an Cuisine & Bar is sharing menus with the Chinatown version. See Craig LaBan's two-bell review for ordering ideas.

It's open daily from 11 a.m. till 10 p.m., an hour later Fridays and Saturdays.
