Those Rosenthal boys really like to put themselves out there.
First, Reid the Realtor enlisted for The Bachelorette and its spin-off Bachelor Pad.
Now, big brother Chad the Restaurateur will be on Season 9 of The Next Food Network Star, premiering June 2 with an episode shot in L.A.
Alton Brown, Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis will be back to mentor the contestants, but this season they're doing so from across the judges' table as members of the selection committee. Focus groups will also be invited to challenges, not just to watch, but to share their reviews and impact judging. For the first time this season, one finalist will be brought back after elimination for another chance.
Rosenthal, 37, who previously ran Rosey's BBQ, is preparing to open The Lucky Well on Butler Avenue in Ambler this summer.
Why put yourself out there for the shot at hosting a TV show?
"I' think I have something," Rosenthal told me. "I watch Food Network. I know who's been on in the past."
Rosenthal stresses that he's a cook, not a chef, which would put him in the Guy Fieri category.
"Yeah," Rosenthal said. "You watch him and want to hate him, but you can't stop watching him. I love every minute of it."
