Campo's gets the Phillies cheesesteak concession

POSTED: Thursday, March 19, 2009, 3:23 PM
Filed Under: TableTalk

The announcement won't be made till next week, but the new cheesesteak vendor in Ashburn Alley at Citizens Bank Park will be Campo's Deli, the family-run shop in Old City with an outpost in the Wachovia Center. The deal is for one year. The menu will include cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks and a sandwich called “The Heater” -- a spicy hot cheesesteak with pepper jack and hot sauce.

Geno's and Rick's have had the concession previously.

awesome! its about time Campo's gets more recognition for their delicious sandwiches. I'd take a Campo's cheesesteak over Geno's, Rick's, Pat's, or Jim's anyday! Here's one more reason to go to the ballpark!

Bad move. Campo's cheesesteaks are not that good. Overrated.

I love Campo's! So happy to hear the news and that they got rid of those other greasy places. Looking forward to trying them at the ballpark.

I have lived in Philadelphia my whole life and had a cheese steak at all the big name places, Campo's is by far the BEST. Finally we can enjoy the Phillies and have the best steak around....Great move, can't wait till opening day.

When I come back home to visit, Campo's is the first stop from the airport. It's like coming home. Can we get a concession at Wrigley Field?

Every time I've gone to Campo's in Old City the service has been incredibly rude and the management stingy (about petty things like extra napkins). The sandwiches are okay but not good enough for me to volunteer to be treated badly. I stopped going.

Campo's had my post removed. It's a shame that the hot head manager that I mentioned...can't "Man up" to his actions. Next time...watch who you're talking to...and keep your temper down

Why are some comments about Campo's removed? I find this disappointing that a paper/online forum that exists due to Freedom of Speech, can summon a reason to stifle it in others. Is this Tierney's world?.....must be a really fun place to work at over on Broad Street these days...I don't envy anyone there.

How do you know it was Campo's that removed your post? Anyone can "report abuse" if what you wrote was offensive -see right of screen. I say good luck and good for them. I sent some of their cheesesteaks overnight once and the recipient – who grew up here (and is not an employee, mikemike) loved them!
