Cafe Estelle to close

Re-upping the lease doesn't make sense, owner says.

Cafe Estelle to close

POSTED: Tuesday, August 28, 2012, 8:37 AM

This is a bummer:

Better get your last meal now at Cafe Estelle - for my money one of the city's best breakfast/lunch spots, tucked into an out-of-the-way spot in a loft building at 444 N. Fourth St.

Marshall Green says they're shutting down at the end of September after five years.

The short explanation, he says, is that it doesn't make sense to sign a new lease. After vacation and a plan to fish, he'll figure out what's next.

Great food lousy location. Green should reopen in a more residential area, not in no-mans land between Old City and No Lib.
