The Broad Street Diner at Broad and Ellsworth Streets is back on the market, at a listed price of $1.85 million:

Just 1 minute from center city of Philadelphia, once well-known facility is on 14,171 sqfts lot right on Broad street with parking in front and in the rear. Super location with walking distance to Kimmel center, Theaters, Avenue of the Arts, High rise condos, Shopping, schools…public transportation is right at the front. Dining area has capacity for 144 people. Banquet area for 140 has been rented for parties, special events… for weekend. Large 3 offices and 2 full baths can be used for office or 3 bedrooms apartment. Golden opportunities for Developer, Investor, or Family run business. The building and the zoning C2 lot face to west direction on Broad Street and face North direction on Ellsworth. need prequalified or proof of fund to show.

Stephen Starr signed an agreement of sale last summer (it had been offered at the time for $1.9 million), but balked supposedly over what I heard were environmental issues.

Thanks to my colleague Sam Wood for the heads-up.

Broad and Ellsworth you say? I'll give you $460,000 for it.

Environmental issues? Was the site once a gas station with abandoned tanks still in the ground?

Mr. Starr walked away, not sure anyone else would have better luck than him.

I'm with Enough and Dude: Not even $460 - and the environment, WOOHOO, the perfect spot I want to be, why, I don't know why people even lock their doors in that neighborhood it's so wholesome. That is if half of them even have doors.

I love all the Suburbanites on these boards that act like every neighborhood in Philly is a war zone. I live in that neighborhood (literally around the corner from the Broad St. Diner, and it's a nice place to live. Maybe on the West Side of Broad it gets a little rough, but that spot where that Diner is isn't bad at all. All it needs is for a major Developer like Starr to put something nice there, and that neighborhood would be well on it's way.
