Take me out to the ball game.
Take me out to the ... bar?
Beer has been part of baseball forever.
But in a first this season, the Phillies and Aramark will sell cocktails and wine on the main concourse's general concession areas at Citizens Bank Park. If you think that the idea of a "Phillies bar" is coming from somewhere out of left field - well, you're correct. It will be located behind Section 142, expanding an existing beer bar. Wine and cocktails cannot be brought out to seats. The cocktail list has not been finalized.
Wine and spirits have been served previously at non-Aramark restaurants, such as McFadden's, as well as in premium seating areas and at the sit-down restaurant Harry the K's.
A Phillies-branded wine (not Bobby), a dry red created in partnership with Chaddsford Winery, will be among the offerings. Chaddsford also produces a branded wine for the Flyers.
Also this season, Aramark and the Phillies will move the gluten-free stand to a prime spot behind home plate (Section 125) . Offerings include chicken tenders, hot dogs, pizza, cheesesteaks, pretzels, brownies, cookies and beer.
At a media event Tuesday night, the Phils and Aramark also will announce new items for the 2015 season.
Wayback Burgers, part of a new partnership, will be sold in the concessions (Sections 120, 135, 142, 207, 319). Wayback's larger menu - including its "triple triple" (nine patties and nine slices of cheese) - will be sold at a stand next to the one selling the Schmitter at Ashburn Alley. "We now call it Heartburn Alley," said Aramark's Kevin Tedesco, laughing.
A Turkey Hill creamery stand featuring dipped and soft-serve ice cream, milkshakes, floats and various sauces and toppings will be placed next to Tony Luke's in Ashburn Alley; hot and spicy sausage will be sold from a Hatfield Grill Cart in Section 148; and a South Philly Dog topped with roasted red peppers, sharp provolone and broccoli rabe will be sold at Section 134. (A previous South Philly Dog was offered with long hots rather than the peppers.)
Harry the K’s will serve a Rittenhouse Square Smoked Turkey Club (with apple wood bacon, tomato, romaine and black pepper mayo on a toasted sourdough; a Northern Liberties Roast Pork (herb-salted pork, Yards ale jus, hot pepper relish and fontina cheese on a roll); and a Brisket Stack (braised crispy pancetta, raclette cheese spread and fried egg on a griddled roll).
