Bon Jovi-Soul concert is postponed

WIth the 2009 Arena Football League season canceled, the Jersey rocker says the promised Bon Jovi victory concert has been postponed.

Back on Feb. 29, before the Philadelphia Soul's 2008 Arena Football League season premiere, Soul co-owner Jon Bon Jovi called into the Preston & Steve show on WMMR (93.3).

Sidekick Nick McIlwain boldly asked Bon Jovi if the band would "put together a free concert for . . . WMMR listeners" if the Soul won ArenaBowl XXII.

"Deal," Bon Jovi said

Well, the Soul went out and beat the San Jose SaberCats in ArenaBowl XXII in July. Bon Jovi agreed to make good on his promise -- extending the Bon Jovi concert to more than just WMMR listeners -- no date or venue had been set.

With news the other day that the entire 2009 Arena schedule had been canceled with plans to resume in 2010, I asked Bon Jovi's rep for the state of the concert.

'We are postponing it," Ken Sunshine told me this morning. "When the 2010 season schedule becomes clear, we'll set a date."

So Bon Jovi fans will be livin' on a prayer for a year longer.
