Big move for a Center City liquor store

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's state store at 1913 Chestnut St. will close after business Tuesday, Aug. 13.

The next day at 11 a.m., a larger store will open about two blocks away, at 2040 Market St. (the former AAA building).

The new store - branded as a Fine Wine & Good Spirits Premium Collection Store - will have a center table with a tasting bar. Regular hours will be 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Wednesday's grand opening will be accompanied by tastings (boosted by nibbles by Du Jour Café) for those 21 and older.
