Best burger in Philly?
Burger Brawl, a fundraiser on June 4, will settle the score.
Best burger in Philly?
Michael Klein, Philly.com
"Who serves the best burger?"
That's a question that you can help answer on June 4 at Burger Brawl, a burger-making contest designed as a fundraiser for Meredith Elementary School in Queen Village.
Rob and Maggie Wasserman, who own Rouge and 500 Degrees and whose son Jonah attends the school, wrangled 18 burger specialists to do the sizzling.
The Brawl, sponsored in part by Philly.com, will be start at 2 p.m. in Meredith's schoolyard, 725 S. Fifth St.
Attendees (it's a $60 ticket) will get to judge, as will Food Network host Marc Summers, Eagles star Winston Justice, and Fox29's Mike Jerrick. Tickets are being sold through TicketLeap.com. Walk-ups are also welcome.
Also sponsoring are Sysco, Fiji Water, Kaiserman Co., Philadelphia's Children's First Fund, Comcast-Spectacor, Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg, Liberty Spirits, Electronic Ink, and the Bancorp Bank.
The complement of burger flippers will represent 10 Arts, 500 Degrees, Adsum, Alfa, Barbuzzo, Butcher & Singer, Good Dog, Ladder 15, London Grill, Midatlantic, North Third, Paesano's, Pub & Kitchen, PYT, Rouge, Royal Tavern, and Table 31.
Any comments or suggestions for other worthy burger shops to invite to a future Brawl?
I make the best burger. Period. WBFO
Loie used to have the best burger in the city, in my opinion. I am going to have to go with Village Whiskey for additions to the list also. summersue82
Grace's Tavern used to be fantastic - haven't been there in years though. McMenamin's was easily best back when you could order by the local street names. But now, I have to vote for Royal. citylumberjack
Rouge--huge burger, great bun, top-quality meat. Totally satisfying Legal Eagle
The best burger experience in Philadelphia is a sultry summer night, feeling the breeze rustle through the giant weed tree growing from the sidewalk below as you enjoy the delicious fresh ground burger and hand pumped Yards Ale on the 2nd floor outdoor deck at the Standard Tap. Palestra Jon
El Vez has a fantastic burger. twothousandeight

Nothing better than a Burger Brawl!
Definitely add Village Whiskey! JR19102
Lots of good choices here, IMO it could go to Adsum, Butcher and Singer or Good Dog Mike H
