Bernie's opening in Glenside

It's named after the owner's grandmother.

Bernie's Restaurant & Bar completes its 10-minute move from Oreland (where it was Bernie's Pub) to Glenside, opening Monday, Dec. 7,.

The new location, at 391 Highland Ave. (215-572-5927), is behind Sussman Kia, off Baeder Road near Baederwood. It's a 115-seater, plus 65 on the patio in nicer weather.

Chef Raul Bacordo, previously of Bernie's Pub in Oreland, Swanky Bubbles in Old City, and Continental Mid-town in Center City, is chef, doing a comfort food menu. Sean Kelly, formerly of Triumph Brewing Company in Old City, is general manager.

Something-for-everyone menu - everything priced under $20 - includes poutine, mussel pots, salads, a hand-cut cheesesteak as well as a seitan cheesesteak; salmon veracruz, fish and chips, and Angus beef burgers. There also is a $6 kids' menu.

The bar will offer 16 local craft beers on tap, and all 15 bar stools will have access to USB ports, phone chargers, and free wifi.
