Art Bar opens at the Sonesta

The new cocktail and small plate lounge is where the coffee shop used to be on the corner of 18th and Market Streets.

Art Bar opens at the Sonesta

Time can move slowly in the hotel industry.

The Sonesta opened two years ago at 18th and Market Streets, in the former Crowne Plaza Hotel.

In January 2014, the property began a top-to-bottom renovation, morphing into something urban chic.

On the groubnd floor off the lobby, the hotel now houses an art gallery in partnership with the Center for Emerging and Visual Artists a few blocks away.

It's on the edge of the hotel's new cocktail and small plate lounge, Art Bar.

The next piece of the puzzle should fall into place in the near future when a restaurant deal is signed for the space that for many years housed Elephant & Castle.
