They own a Philly bar on TV, why not for real?

Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson, the husband-and-wife team who play Mac and Sweet Dee on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will be partners in an Old City bar, now operating as Skinner's, at 226 Market St. The info was rumored yesterday on Phoodie.info but not confirmed.

Local attorney William Morrin confirmed that the couple will be investors but not operators.

He has filed paperwork with the Liquor Control Board for a license transfer, though the LCB said today that it had not seen it.

On the FX comedy, the Upper Darby-born, South Philly-bred McElhenney, a St. Joe's Prep grad, co-owns a South Philly bar called Paddy’s Pub.

Name will be Mac's Olde Towne Tavern -- clearly a nod to McElhenney's nickname.

The operators, Ben Haney and Eric Vesotsky, are McElhenney's Prep buddies.

The look will be similar to Skinner's, Morrin said. He was unsure of a timetable, but said it would open early next year.

Skinner's owner Peter Schriber yesterday confirmed that a sale was pending but would not disclose the potential buyers' names or say when Skinner's would close.

McElhenney has been scouring Old City for a suitable location for a couple of years.
