A little bit of Paris in Chestnut Hill

Chef Albert Paris - yes, we'll always have Paris - and partners Robert and Benjamin Bynum went for a '30s-era Parisian look whose pressed tin ceiling, zinc bar, oversize antique mirrors and well-worn period furniture fit beautifully inside the circa-1894 building's ground floor.

Tonight (1/30/14) is the opening of Paris Bistro inside the Chestnut Hill Hotel (8229 Germantown Ave.).

Chef Albert Paris - yes, we'll always have Paris - and partners Robert and Benjamin Bynum went for a '30s-era Parisian look whose pressed tin ceiling, zinc bar, oversize antique mirrors and well-worn period furniture fit beautifully inside the circa-1894 building's ground floor. This space was occupied last by the Melting Pot.

Paris and the Bynums also run Heirloom, Relish, Warmdaddy’s and Green Soul.

The project reunites Paris with chef Eric Hall, whose resume includes the late Circa and La Campagne.

Classic French menu includes daily plates (fried frog's legs on Tuesday, coq au vin on Wednesday, leg of lamb on Thursday, etc.) as well as about a dozen mains (from a Brie-topped burger to crabcakes and sea scallops); most entrees are in the high teens to low $20s. Also: oysters, cheese plates, French wines, bottled beers, cocktails with house-made syrups.

It will be open for dinner only (closed Mondays) for the first couple of weeks. Lunch service and a lower-level jazz café will follow, perhaps in February.
