The Drafting Room, the beer-centric spot on Bethlehem Pike in Spring House since 1998, closed earlier this week, management confirms.

A volume issue.

The Exton location and a sibling operation, Brickside Grille in Exton, remain.

The contract of Fox29 sports reporter/fill-in anchor Joe Staszak expires in August, and the station confirms that he has not been renewed.

When the Berwyn native joined Fox29 in 2008, it was a homecoming.

He started at the station in 2002 as a fill-in sports anchor and Don Tollefson's associate producer for Eagles Game Day Live. He left after two seasons.

Rybread (2319 Fairmount Ave.), a breakfast-slash-sandwich cafe from career-changing architect Ryan Pollock.

Not that Pollock career-changed by choice. The central Montco-raised 25-year-old was in D.C. with his girlfriend Stephanie Mertz when he was laid off.

Scott Hockfield at Wrap Shack Kitchen & Bar (120 S. 18th St.) will mark his third anniversary on Friday 5/7 by giving away Buffalo chicken and Thai chicken wraps to his first 300 customers starting at 11:30 a.m.

That night at happy hour from 6 to 7 p.m., he'll sell beers from his premium draft selection at $1 a pop.

Saturday (5/1) is Rittenhouse Row's spring festival, which takes over Walnut Street from 15th Street westward around the square.

Saturday (5/1) is also the City Restaurant Dine-Around in Wilmington as part of its restaurant week.

Saturday (5/1) and Sunday (5/2) is the Piazza at Schmidts' first restaurant weekend, during which 50-odd city eateries will set up in the piazza (Second Street, a block or so south of Girard Avenue). The piazza's farmer's market will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For the third year, Chase and Jennifer Utley hosted their annual casino night to benefit the PSPCA, which drew 450 attendees at the Electric Factory Thursday night.

Included was a gaggle of Phillies, including Ryan Howard, Shane Victorino, Jayson Werth, Cole Hamels, Raul Ibanez, Kyle Kendrick, Danny Baez, Juan Castro, Ben Francisco, Roy Halladay, Jimmy Rollins, and Brian Schneider.

The silent auction featured small sculpted animals that the players decorated (see below).

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has upped with WIP (610) to do six shows, starting May 4.

Manuel will be on with midday hosts Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow from noon to 1 p.m. at a live remote from Ponzio's Diner in Cherry Hill. Gargano and Macnow will be there from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The other dates are 5/18, 6/22, 7/27, 8/24, and 9/21.

Jake's Sandwich Board, coming to 12th and Sansom Streets in a couple of weeks, is looking for six "guinea pigs" to taste its whole pig and entire menu next Thursday (5/6) at 6 p.m.
