Rob Guarino: 10 to 20 inches of snow

POSTED: Tuesday, February 23, 2010, 11:35 AM

Fox29 alumnus Rob Guarino, who's been out of weather work since November after leaving his job in Albuquerque, has been spending time calling highs and lows on his weather blog.

For several days, he's been telling the world about a monstrous snowstorm coming late Wednesday, hitting from Baltimore to Boston.

In a phone chat this morning, Guarino says Philly will get 10 to 20 inches, with the potential for 40 inches in some interior areas in the New York area.

Other meteorologists may name storms, but Guarino simply writes songs about them.

He's calling this one "Super Freak" (with apologies to Rick James):

She's a very kinky storm
The kind you don't take home to mother
She will never let your spirits down
Once you get her off the ocean, ow girl
She likes the cities on 95
She says the models are her I'm her all-time favorite
When I make my move to the Mid Atlantic it's the right time
She's never hard to please

{Refrain}
That storm is pretty wild now
The storm's a super freak
The kind of storm you read about
In new-wave blogs with peeps
That storm is pretty kinky
The storm's a super freak
I really love to see it
Every winter we meet!

For those out there that think Rob is inaccurate, you sure have not been following his blog. He has been the most accurate and way in advance of all the local TV stations. He was the best when he was in Philly and still is. I agree with workinmama, I have my whole office and friends asking me for updates and for his blog URL.

Before you comment negatively on Rob Guarino, check out his weather site. It is fun, interesting, and informative, and to top it off, he has been dead on, on every major snowstorm we've had this winter...much more than I can say for any of the local so-called weather experts.

It seems there are a lot of people on here that have no clue what they are talking about. Rob has been on the money all season long. And not just 6 hours before the storm hits like the local media morans in this town that are afraid to make a prediction. Before you make another uninformed comment check out the site for yourself. www.liveweatherblogs.com

I have been quite impressed with not only Rob's predictions this season, but the overall knowledge and confidence he brings to the table. He is not afraid to put himself out there because he trusts his knowledge and weather experience. The best part is that he has a lot of fun at what he does and makes everyone feel welcome! Awesome decribes it the best!!

Rob Guarino is the most exciting source for weather in Philadelphia! His site is accurate and educational, but most of all its fun. Fox29 is the big loser for not making sure he remained part of their team.

Rob's website is incredible. It is educational, entertaining, and very accurate. So far this winter, even several days out, Rob and the other meteorlogists on the site were on top of the storms we've had and pretty much nailed the sweet spots (most snow). I recommend a visit to the site for anyone interested in weather in general or if you want an accurate FOREcast with support from more than just the latest model runs.

Rob is the most accurate. Has been predicting storms well before anyone else. If a station wants to increase their rateings they should employ him.

All his Kool-Aid drinkers are on here supporting him. He is wrong just as much as the others are. Last week he was calling for 5-10 inches and we got a dusting. Early on this one he was calling for 2 to 3 feet now just 9 inches. It is the same hype on that site it is just not broadcast on the air. Bunch of losers and nerds over there that don't have a life!

Rob was the best meteorologist on Philly TV. It was FOXs loss when he left. It's our gain now that he's back and hopefully not too much more time will pass before we see him again on TV sharing his excitement about winter weather, and making laypeople understand what the weather's doing. His forecasts this winter have been a blast to follow, and have proven him to be the #1 met in the Philly region.

All the other local stations realy need to start folowing Rob. I was telling my family members about the last two big storms a week before the local stations started talking about them. When i told my brother in law a week before one of them that we could get close to 30" he said i was nuts. Now they all call me asking what Rob is calling for.
