You´ve slurped ice cream, soft-serve, frozen yogurt, water ice, gelati (and gelato). Now make way for Soft Ice, a.k.a. FroYo, the soft non-diary treat that comes in Asian-inspired flavors, and is served in a cup and augmented with a elect-your-own toppings bar. The Froyo/Soft Ice wars started on the west coast have hit South Street and Rittenhouse Square. We explore the city´s three new FROYO/SOFT ICE stores and see how they´re different from each other and from TCBY.

The weather is cooperating with a rite of early spring: Ben & Jerry's ice cream shops are handing out free cones on Tuesday, April 9.

The Philly locations are at 218 S. 40th St. at Penn; at 3400 Civic Center Blvd. at HUP; and at 30th Street Station.
