10 p.m. newscast hinted for CW Philly

CBS3 is cooking up plans for a 10 p.m. newscast on its sister station, CW Philly 57.

Three 10 o'clock news shows in town?

CBS3 is cooking up plans for a 10 p.m. newscast on its sister station, CW Philly 57, to go up against Fox29 and the MyPHL News at Ten Powered by NBC10.

If what I'm hearing is true, the CW Philly's half-hour show's anchor would be CBS3's Dave Huddleston -- putting him up against Fox29, his old station.

Fox29 decided not to rehire Huddleston last summer, and he joined CBS3 in November. (Fox29 had graciously given him a very short noncompete.)

From a ratings standpoint, CW Philly has little to lose. A peek at Nielsen numbers shows that Fox29's 10 o'clock rating (4.6 in November's sweeps) was double that of MyPHL (2.3), while Dr. Phil drew a 1.0 on CW Philly.

CW Philly now does a weekday-morning Wake Up News, whose content is driven by CBS3. A station rep said there was no announcement at this time.
