Krzysztof Urbański is to be the new music director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He's 28.
Urbański - did we mention that he's 28? - starts a four-year contract Sept. 1, 2011.
Not familiar with the details of his career up to this point? From the maestro's bio:
Undoubtedly one of the most interesting conducting talents to emerge from Poland in recent years, Krzysztof Urbański has been attracting a considerable amount of attention throughout Europe where he is appreciated by orchestras, critics and audiences alike. Future highlights include return visits to NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, Radio Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Residentie Orkest, Dresdner Philharmonie, Göteborgs Symfoniker, the Gulbenkian Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Urbański, also chief conductor of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, follows Mario Venzago as leader in Indianapolis.
As they say in Polski: Moje gratulacje!
