New Chief of Staff for Philadelphia Orchestra

Philadelphia Orchestra president/CEO Allison B. Vulgamore has hired a chief of staff.
Ari Solotoff, 29, executive director of the Portland (Maine) Symphony since June 2006, will start the newly-created position of chief of staff and director of planning on May 17.
“The position is part of the senior management team. It’s a collaborator with both the team and with Allison in helping to organize and sequence the many priorities that exist, certainly right now and in ino the future,” said Solotoff. “The idea that a person could be responsible for managing and overseeing the executive office, guiding the critical work of the board of directors and being the driver and point person in the upcoming planning process, to me is both innovative and an incredible responsibility.”
An oboist in college, Solotoff has worked at the Louisville Orchestra, where he was chief operating officer, and was executive director of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. He was born in Great Neck (Long Island), N.Y., and was raised there and in Orange County, California.
