If the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra sounds unusually robust this fall, Yannick Nezet-Seguin may be at least partly responsible. He has taken up the challenge from Met trombonist Weston Sprott to do 22 pushups daily in a charity event to raise PTSD awareness among veterans.

That's no big deal for him. The 41-year-old Philadelphia Orchestra music director, who was recently appointed to the Metropolitan Opera, has long been a fitness nut and is often seen on his Facebook page in workout clothes. But less visible orchestra members might do well to follow his lead.

"Next thing you know, our entire orchestra will take the challenge and have the most amazing upper body strength!" he said on Twitter.
