September 8: There will always be Ray Rice apologists

Obviously, we had a lot of thoughts about the video released by TMZ Sports showing Ray Rice punching first, knocking his then-fiancé out cold. We agreed a straight forward cartoon approach was the best way to tackle what seems to be a relatively simple issue.
And anyone thinking this cartoon is an exaggeration or just made up to get a quick laugh need only look at some of the replies we're getting already on Twitter:
Some of our ideas were more "straight forward" than others. Here are the ones we left on the drawing board:
Idea 1:
2 panels
P1: Ravens fan: "Sure, we can see him punch her, but we don't know what she said to prov--"
P2: [Rose punches him in the face]

Idea 2:
2 panels
P1: Roger Goodell [at podium]: "Yes, we had the elevator video when we determined Ray Rice's two-game suspension. But in my defense, I had just taken the ALS ice bucket challenge."
P2: Goodell sitting in front of a monitor with a bucket still on his head.
Goodell: "What's happening now?" Aid: [Horrified while watching tape] "Uh... they're on the elevator. So, just... normal elevator stuff."
***
Idea 3:
3 panels
P1: Roger Goodell: "Yes, we saw the elevator video prior to Ray Rice's suspension. But let's not ignore the real enemy here: elevators."
P2: Roger Goodell: "What did they have to gain from all this? Exposure, that's what. Everybody's talking about elevators now."
P3: Roger Goodell: "Anyways, who wants some pink clothes? C'mon, girls love pink."
***
Idea 4:
2 panels
P1: Goodell with Rice: "Sorry, Ray, but I;m going to have to ban you for life and issue an apology to your wife."
P2:[Both are laughing] Rice: "You had me going there!"

But hey, at the end of the day, the important thing is that an apology was issued.
