August 5: Have we reached maximum Chip Kelly hype?

The NFL season needs to get underway faster, so that expectations have a chance to level out in some capacity. As of now, Chip Kelly and the Eagles are somewhere between "epic" and "biblical" as far as the precedent set by the promise of training camp.

Remember when Jordan Matthews was just a young kid trying to prove himself? Now he's a folk legend, charitably living among us mortals.

Health and safety is one thing, but maybe the NFL should trim the preseason to allow the regular season to begin suddenly, at a different time each year, always catching fans off guard so they don't have time to get excited. You're getting up on Christmas morning, flip on the TV, but instead of a weather report, it's Terry Bradshaw screaming about Jake Locker. Surprise! It's football season! Christmas can wait a few hours, children; this fantasy lineup isn't going to draft and then set itself.
