Before the opening kickoff of the Mayor's Cup Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field,  Villanova announced that senior wide receiver Norman White will sit out the season due to a foot injury.

White will redshirt and return next year.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Hammonton. N.J., made first-team all-Colonial Athletic Association last year after catching 69 passes for 886 yards and 11 touchdowns.

"We are very disappointed for Norman," 'Nova coach Andy Talley said in a statement. "He is a premier player in our league who looked poised for another big season. The silver lining is that we will be able to get Norman healthy and have him back next year."
