Winter style: Shop local

Thanks to Hurricane Sandy and the impending N’oreaster, winter wear is in full swing here in Philly! Shopping locally is a great way to support your fellow Philadelphians and here are a few of my favorites.

Thanks to Hurricane Sandy and the impending nor'easter, winter wear is in full swing here in Philly! Shopping locally is a great way to support your fellow Philadelphians.

One of my favorite places to shop is at Once Worn Consignment on 2nd Street in Northern Liberties. They always have quality items (well curated by store owner Jen). It's where I purchased one of my favorite black bags and picked up a few fall pieces like a sheer black blouse and black heels.

Arcadia Boutique is also located on 2nd Street in Northern Liberties. It's a locally owned boutique that works with sustainable designers from around the world showcasing one of a kind jewelry, accessories, denim, home accents, and gifts. I'm usually not impressed by awards, but they've been voted "Best of Philly" by Philadelphia magazine in 2008 and 2010, and for good reason! Their perfect blend of well known boutique brands, emerging designers, and innovative eco fashion lines pulls together a well designed store with unique options for everyone.

Charlie's Jeans is the PERFECT stop for denim pieces for fall and winter.  Jeans are consistently my go-to staple for colder weather, and with the personalized help of the staff at Charlie's Jeans and the 30 brands they have to choose from, I'm confident you'll find your next favorite pair at this boutique. They are conveniently located in Center City and Old City.

Kembrel is where I'm going for some outerwear and cute booties. I'm really excited about leather jackets this year and they have a few handsome ones! The Larson boot is also lust-worthy on this list. Their online shop constantly has discounts, along with top-quality products!

Overall I'll be looking for leather pieces, studded ankle boots and flats, demure blouses, and romantic dresses. It's going to be a cold winter so strap on those boots and start shopping local! It's the way to go.
