View Tiffany & Co.'s Jazz Age-inspired 'Great Gatsby' collection

Long strands of pearls, dripping jewels, heavy cufflinks, intricate fascinators, iridescent diamonds, and bracelets stacked at gorgeous heights share symbolic significance in a number of dizzying scenes throughout Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby. These items of importance - an homage to the Art Deco jewels so prevalent in the Roaring Twenties - were commissioned by Tiffany & Co. and partitioned off into two lines.

The first, The Great Gasby Collection, is worn by the cast throughout the film: Black enamel cufflinks stamped with a monogrammed logo for Jay Gatsby (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), a diamond and pearl headpiece worn by the materialistic Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan), and an ostentatious pearl necklace for Myrtle Wilson (Isla Fisher).

The second, a slightly more affordable and wearable fashion collection, takes its cue from the movie's appeal to the masses. Both lines were were based on Tiffany archival jewelry designs from the 1920s, an aesthetic that certainly infiltrates the Catherine Martin-designed set which Elizabeth Wellington discusses in this week's column.

The whimsical, perfectly-crafted designs that beckon us back to an era of hollowed, momentary beauty and bliss are ironically, timeless additions to our jewelry collections.
