Designer John Galliano to teach at Parsons

Call him "Professor Galliano."

Parsons confirmed Monday to the Associated Press and Lucky Magazine that John Galliano will be teaching a masters class at the New School of Design in New York City. The course is designed to instruct students on the "challenges and complications" of directing a fashion house. Parsons says it will allow senior BFA candidates to have direct conversations with the mysterious, elusive designer as part of a 3-day workshop.

The move brings Galliano one step closer to his imminent return to fashion. The designer, who was fired in 2011 from his post as Dior creative director after an anti-Semitic rant caught on video at a Parisian cafe, has slowly started to reemerge in public after an extended period of isolation and rehab stint.

Earlier this year, Oscar de la Renta propelled buzz surrounding Galliano's return to fashion after tapping the talent to help with his spring 2013 show. Unfortunately, it wasn't the fashions featured on the runway that made its way to front pages.

Galliano was snapped exiting the show in a look that resembled the dress and hairstyle of a Hasidic Jew. Parsons says it believes the designer, however, has made amends for his past transgressions.
