Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga's stylist, leaving Mugler
Lady Gaga's stylist Nicola Formichetti is leaving Mugler where he's served as the French fashion house's creative director since 2011.
After two years as Mugler's creative director, Lady Gaga's stylist Nicola Formichetti is leaving the French fashion house.
"I have had a great time working in Paris with Mugler over the last two years. It was a challenge to re-invigorate the house for a new generation," said Formichetti to the Associated Press Tuesday.
In the last two years, Formichetti brought a reinvigorated energy to Mugler, a brand founded by Thierry Mugler in the '70s. Formichetti's feats include introducing sleek, futuristic designs to the fashion house, and infusing Mugler with a younger, edgier vibe which involved Gaga strutting down his fall 2011 catwalk. The designer also dropped the "Thierry" from the Mugler name during his two years as creative director.
Joel Palix, the director of Mugler and president of Clarins Fragrance, issued the following statement: "With his talent for communication and understanding modern imagery and design, Nicola has been instrumental in attracting a new audience which is undeniably crucial for the future strategy of the house. He will be a historical part of the Mugler legacy and known as the force that catapulted us forward."
