Juicy Couture taps Steve Madden for shoe collaboration

Juicy Couture is partnering with shoe brand mogul Steve Madden to create a new shoe line.

Juicy Couture is partnering with shoe brand mogul Steve Madden to create a new shoe line. According to Authentic Brand Group (ABG), the company that bought Juicy Couture last year, Steve Madden will be the sole (pun intended) designer for Juicy's new collection of women's footwear.

"We had multiple choices, but Steven Madden knows how to make fun shoes that are very on trend," Jamie Salter, chairman and CEO of ABG told Women's Wear Daily. "They are not followers, but leaders in footwear. Juicy is the leader in fun product and Steve Madden knows how to hit that down the fairway."

There will be two separate shoe lines in the collection. The higher priced line, which will be released first, will range in price from $80 to $200.

Both collections are expected to launch in Juicy Couture stores, select department stores and online in spring 2015.

Steve Madden is the designer and CEO of his namesake shoe company founded in 1990. His character was brought to the big screen in last year's film 'Wolf on Wall Street' when the main character, broker Jordan Belfort played by Leonardo DiCaprio, disclosed Madden's illegal activities resulting in his real-life 31 month stint in jail.

Juicy Couture, founded in 1997, is a luxury women's brand best known for their iconic velour tracksuits. The designer brand was sold last fall for $195 million, a fraction of the brand's annual revenue. Juicy's founders Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor recently released a book called The Glitter Plan about the inception of the brand.
