Though her marriage to Conrad "Nicky" Hilton, Jr. was short-lived, Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding gown lives on.

Though her marriage to Conrad "Nicky" Hilton, Jr. was short-lived, Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding gown lives on.

Christie's announced this weekend that Elizabeth Taylor's iconic gown created by legendary costume designer Helen Rose will be auctioned off next month.

Taylor, who was 18 at the time of her first wedding, was snapped by publications around the world in the piece- a white satin number embellished with pearls and beads and a fifteen-yard satin train. The gown, a gift from MGM to the actress, was specifically tailored to Tyalor's voluptuous figure with a built-in corset and a Juliet cap.

The gown was so elaborate that it took two-three months and more than fifteen people to work on the piece around the clock. Rose also lists designing the gown of Grace Kelly on her wedding day among her accomplishments.
