Dîner en Blanc, Dîner en Noir and Dîner in...Sweatpants?

Dîner en Blanc now has two competitors: Dîner en Noir and Dîner in Sweatpants.

Dîner en Blanc too stuffy for your taste? Maybe the stress of finding the idyllically ethereal all-white ensemble is unbearable.

Philadelphian and cancer researcher Chris Nowaczyk sympathizes to the point that he created his own function, Dîner en Noir, because all black (with a splash of rouge) is decidedly less daunting than total blanc-ness. Philly.com food writer Michael Klein reported that after becoming frustrated with registration difficulties for Philadelphia's elusive all-white affair held at a secret location in the city, Nowaczyk created Dîner en Blanc's antithesis to be held on the same day, Aug. 21, at a yet-to-be-disclosed locale.

Noir tickets are about $20 cheaper than those for Blanc, at $50 for a table for two. Communal tables are sold out and were $62. All proceeds will go to Philabundance. Blanc tickets are $68.50 for a table for two.

If all these color requirements are cramping your creativity, there's a third Dîner scheduled for Aug. 21: Dîner in Sweatpants. The bring-your-own-everything event will take place in Clark Park from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. and is free to register, because they provide you with almost nothing. Registrants do get a surprise gift when they present their "Selfie Tickets" on the day of the event, though. Tickets for Dîner in Sweatpants can be reserved here.

Hopefully, Dîner en Blanc isn't scheduled for the outdoor University City venue. It'd be a shame if a few sweatpantsed vigilantes shrouded the 3,500 attendees' chic 'fits.
