Beautiful You: 6 easy steps to make lipstick last longer
Make your lip color bold and long lasting!
1. For soft lips and a smoother lipstick application, exfoliate first.
Make a homemade lip scrub by mixing brown sugar and olive oil. I used Mint Julips Lip Scrub from Lush, $9.95, lushusa.com.
2. Moisturize with lip balm. Let it soak in for about a minute, then pat dry.
I used Evolution of Smooth Lip Balm in Coconut Milk, $3.29, evolutionofsmooth.com.
3. Line lips and fill them in fully with a matte lip liner.
If your lipstick starts to wear off, the red lip liner will show. This also prevents lipstick feathering and helps lip color last longer. I used NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Hot Red, $3.50, nyxcosmetics.com.
4. Apply lipstick.
I recommend using a matte lipstick since it lasts longer and doesn't budge. I used Mac Cosmetics Lipstick in Ruby Woo, $16, maccosmetics.com.
5. Clean up any messy edges with concealer that matches your skin tone.
I used Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard, $29, Sephora.com.
6. A trick to make your lipstick last even longer: place a tissue over your lips and tap translucent powder on top with a brush. This helps seal the lipstick in place.
I used Coty Airspun Face Powder in Translucent, $6.49, drugstore.com.

Tip: Matte lipsticks tend to be drying on the lips, so apply a sheer lip balm on top for added moisture.
